Booking/Ordering Your Cake

Booking early is advisable and I ask for wedding and special celebration cakes at least 3 months before the event, especially if you would like a fruitcake as it is matured for a minimum of 8 weeks prior to a wedding/event.

The majority of my cakes are sponge cakes that are baked to order the week of the event. We require a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice but 1 month is preferable. However ,‘save the date’ is highly recommended for weddings and special occasions with a preferable lead time of 3 months.

If the cake is ordered with a quicker lead time 2 weeks or less full payment is required on finalisation of design and exchange of the ‘cake contract’, as work will begin immediately.

All orders are not confirmed without a deposit or full payment and all cakes must be paid for before collection/delivery.

I am able to take a deposit of 30% for orders on wedding and celebration cakes that are booked far in advance of the event. The final balance and payment to be made in full ,6 weeks before the event.

Prices

All prices are non-negotiable and priced according to your specific design and size.

We do not price match and the prices given are a reflection on the time spent on each custom project and the quality of ingredients and details used.

Following your consultation/enquiry your quote is valid for 2 months and by paying the deposit secures the date and prevents any price changes.

Late Payments

If a payment for deposit is not made within 1 months of a quote I reserve the right to cancel your booking and I can no longer guarantee availability for the date. This could result in new costings.

If full payment is not cleared in our account before the event the order will not be released, and the deposit forfeited.

Cancellations/Refunds

If the event is cancelled:

  •    one month before we reserve the right to retain the deposit

  •    3 weeks before the event you will be billed for 50% of the total balance

  •    cancellation within 7 working days of the event full payment will be required.

( We will have ‘saved your date’, done all the design, purchases and prep….as the design is ‘yours’ it is highly unlikely we could re-sell your cake)

If you postpone the event we will try to move your booking as long as the date is free, if not it will be treated as a cancellation.

I reserve the right to cancel a booking due to events beyond our control such as ill health. In that event a full refund would be offered.

Refunds are only applicable to cakes if cancelled 3 months before the date of the wedding/event, if not it will be treated as a cancellation.

Design

It is your responsibility to read through and check all details of the quote fully and any changes to be made by email to: lyntastefulcake@gmail.com

Where possible we will endeavour to change the design appropriately, however this is not always possible due to the nature of the request or amount of notice given. No changes can be made to the design within 7 working days of the event.

If the alteration affects the cost or initial prep work has begun I will notify you and amend the balance accordingly.

I reserve the right to change a design if circumstances beyond our control take place i.e. cake melting in heat.

Delivery

The cost of delivery is 50p per mile from the bakery. The maximum journey should not exceed 60 miles from Llangynidr which, for example, would just include deliveries as far as Bristol (totaling 120 miles = £60).

Celebration cakes can be collected from the Bakery for free however, you will be responsible for setting up your cake, and I accept no responsibility for any damage caused once the cake has left the Bakery.

If you choose delivery I will ensure that your cake arrives in perfect condition for your reception/event, however, I ask for patience on circumstances outside our control such as unanticipated traffic conditions, inclement weather, as we cannot be held liable. I ask that it is your responsibility to provide us with the correct venue address and time along with the venue postcode.

In the very unlikely event of a late delivery the maximum compensation will be of the delivery price.

If you choose to collect your cake we are not liable for any damage that may occur once it has left our premises.

Please also check that your wedding insurance covers any cake damage.

We advise that you appoint a point of contact for the day: wedding planner/co-ordinator/manager/relative that will be present on the day, at the agreed time, and that we are informed of this person with a contact number well in advance. They will be asked to sign off on the delivery and set up.

Please ensure that the cake table is at the venue and located in a suitable place i.e. not in direct light or drafts.

Damages

Please bear in mind cakes are of a delicate nature and are susceptible to damage, and I cannot accept any responsibility once it has left our possession this includes any decoration implemented by your florist. I ask that either I am present when your florist adds flowers or that it is done by myself. I cannot be responsible for venue staff and /or guests tampering with the cake.

Best Before

I cannot guarantee quality of the cake after 48 hours of the event. Cakes containing cream , egg Swiss meringue, and butter cream should be refrigerated as soon as possible, and consumed within 48 hours.

All complaints must be made in writing/email to The Tasteful Cake Company and include photographic evidence of fault. We do not accept responsibility for any damage caused once I have set the cake up.

No compensation will exceed the total value of the cake.

No refunds are given because of change of mind.
